The book is written in a clear and easy-to-follow style. My only criticism of the writing is that occasionally it is a little too simple, but I suppose this is no bad thing as it has to be understood by people all over the world.

I have to admit that I learned an awful lot from Michael Lee and his course on persuasion secrets. Here’s an example of some particularly useful advice from page 330:

Master persuaders talk quicker, more clearly, more enthusiastically, and more fluently. You may reduce your speaking pace if you want to give the impression that you’re thinking or analyzing; increase your speaking pace if you want to convey passion or liveliness.
Fillers such as “ahhh” or “ummm” are absolute “no-no’s” for master persuaders. They are also aware not to repeat certain words said by others, so others won’t think that they pick up information slowly.

My Opinion of Michael Lee’s 20 Day Persuasion

All in all, this is a useful eBook and course and is enhanced by being bundled (for a limited time, I notice) with 7 Bonuses. On the positive side, it covers just about every aspect of the art of persuasion and offers literally dozens of useful Power Persuasion Secrets & Techniques. On the negative side, everything is stuffed into one eBook, that includes stuff about selling, relationships and personal development all under the one roof.

Worth the money? In my opinion, yes. Especially if you are using the techniques he teaches for sales or business purposes. It could also help you make the opposite sex fall in love with you, but I’m not sure that is morally ethical.

I am a big admirer of persuasion expert Michael Lee and of his 20 Day Persuasion program. From it I learned many valuable persuasion secrets I did not already know. All right, so it caters to all people, from absolute beginners to experts, but it was worth reading it all in order to get an overview and to appreciate the nuggets of “gold” it contains.

Here is just one of the less advanced persuasion secrets contained in Michael Lee’s course. It is important to know the basics before you start on advanced persuasion techniques.

Persuasion Secrets Revealed: Expect Success

Whenever you expect someone to do what you want them to, and in turn that person admires you and treats you with respect or looks up to you, then you have already raised your chances of getting what you want. “Expect” is the key word. You tell your son that he’s a bright boy and that you expect him to receive high grades at school. Do that and it is very likely that your son will meet or exceed any expectations you have. (I know from personal experience how damaging this can be from the other way round).

So why does this persuasion technique work so well? Quite simply it is because (looking at it from our viewpoint for a moment), we hope to meet or exceed, others’ expectations of us. This is even more true when we stand to gain benefits, such as bonuses, promotion and even the simple need to earn trust and be liked.

Some of the benefits of this “law of expectation” are nothing short of miraculous. Take, for example, the case of seriously ill patients who are given placebo pills instead of real drugs. Placebos are plain pills without any healing capacity and yet when patients were assured that these pills contained huge amounts of potent medicine that might well cure their disease very quickly, up to 90% got better immediately. Never underestimate the power of the mind or the persuasion secrets of “expectation” and “belief”.

If you have children, give them positive qualities, speak and act as if they have these qualities even if they haven’t yet acquired them. Assure them that they’re smart, and they will indeed become smart. This is the enormous power of influence and persuasion.

You can use this technique to your advantage simply by adding phrases like “you probably realize” or “you will know already” to our statements. This is doubly powerful because you are using not only the technique of “assumption” (something else Michael Lee teaches in the course) but also of “suggestion”. You are implanting a “truth” into the other person’s subconscious that would be very hard to argue against.

For example, a salesman might say: “Of course you’ll realize that XYZ Company [the opposition] could never give you the same quality at this price.” This not only plants the suggestion that any deal the XYZ Company puts forward would include merchandise of a lower quality, it also flatters the buyer that you recognize his skills of perception. Work on that and (all things being equal) you will almost certainly have a sale. You can begin to see that “Expectation” is one of the most powerful but simple persuasion secrets.

Most people will fulfill the role others give them. For example, a worker in your company who assumes that his fellow employees regard him as incompetent will probably not be able to work to his full potential. On the other hand, should you and others praise that same employee and make him believe he is a valuable and popular asset to the company, he is much more likely to give you his best. As we see from religion, belief is a powerful mover. As the old saying goes: “belief can move mountains” and this is true.

Believe it or not, there are sales people out there who will do practically anything to get a sale. They’ll lie, manipulate and try to convince you that what they’re selling is perfect for you – even if it’s not. These are bad salesmen.

There’s no need for all that. As Michael Lee, author of How To Be An Expert Persuader, teaches, you can get people to do practically anything you want – including buy from you – using some simple and honest techniques of mind power. This is known as “the art of persuasion”.

First you must find out what it is they are looking for. And the easy way to do that is to let them tell you – even if they don’t know they are doing it. Before you get into “sales mode”, sit down and engage them in brief conversation about their lives and their needs. Watch out for key-words like “need”, “wish”, “want”, “help”, “problem”, and “confused”.

For example if you are selling stationery and your customer says: “I need to find  more time to spend with the family…” You could try selling them a complete accounting system that will streamline their business.

If you sell cars and the customer reveals that their wife is going to have a baby, maybe you could try and sell him a larger vehicle than the one he’s looking at.

Look for some way you can help the customer and make a sale at the same time. But don’t rush in there straight away, leave it until after your chat and hopefully let the customer think that it was their idea. Most people start off mistrusting salesmen and, even if you don’t get any ideas, your initial chat can help convince them that you are not such a bad guy after all. The expert persuader is always perceived as a “nice guy”.

Helping people sort out any problems they have is not the same as taking advantage of them. The best sales result in a win-win situation for both parties. The man gets to spend more time with his family and you make money from selling him stationery: that’s win-win. An estate car is better for transporting families around than a mini – win-win – and so on…

If your potential customer doesn’t immediately reveal any needs, you may have to prompt them. Go right out and ask: “What’s your biggest problem and how can I help solve it?”

“Is there anything I can do to help you get what you want?”

Another powerful tool is to remind people of something they said earlier. Everybody wants to appear consistent and not being so suggests that they were lying. Use this to your advantage.

In the car scenario you can say: “If I remember correctly, you told me your wife was having a  baby. Now I’ve got three children of my own and I know just how much space they and their paraphernalia take up. Are you sure you wouldn’t be happier looking at an estate car?”

With this technique, it helps to have other people around to listen to the conversation. People hate to be thought liars in front of witnesses!

The internet is full of useful products – about the art of persuasion and many other subjects – a whole wealth of information that can greatly assist us improve our lives. In the history of mankind there’s never been so much information available to us. Or more opportunities to be ripped off!

There’s good and bad out there. So, it’s imperative to know whether a product like 20 Day Persuasion is a waste of time and money before you buy. And for that you need to hear from someone who is honest and who has actually bought the product and read it – that’s me. You may be surprised to hear that many of these so-called “review sites” are written by scammers: people who have never seen the product they are supposed to be reviewing, let alone studied it. I don’t work like that.
